I MUST SEE GOD TODAY!
A young man who has always desired to see God, to have an encounter with Him, to ‘Wrestle’ with Him like Jacob and the Angel one day was going home after work and he decided to take a different route just to have a feel of things that might have changed since he stopped plying that road.
To him it was Heaven-on-earth seeing a just completed Temple, he could see himself as he walked closer. “At long last I have found it!” he exclaimed, he has never seen such a nice Temple since he was born, he worships at someone’s uncompleted building every Sunday, mid-week, and any other program organized by his denomination.
“Waow!” he utters again being at the entrance of the temple. Thonk! Thunk! Went his feet on the styled tiles as shiny as a new penny where he could see his reflection. The Chairs as beautiful as blue skies, ‘today is the day’ he said as he walks towards the altar. There was a program that evening and the people had not gathered yet.
Danny finally was lying on the floor; he wished he could sleep there and take his breakfast with God before leaving for work; that was enough for him. “Young man” an usher who was to ensure everything was in order before the mega service starts called him, ‘yes yes yes’ Danny responded and stood up in amazement, “I have at long last heard the voice of God!” he thought and after turning to embrace Him (God), he realized it was a mortal man like him.
His mood suddenly changed, for he least expected a human being at that moment of his silence, “I hope you came to join us for tonight’s program?” the usher asked him, “Program?” Danny asked in total dismay,” yes we have a 3-day program dubbed “An encounter with the Lord”, “waow! That is what I so desired, to see God, to feel Him and to probably dine with Him!” Danny interfered. “Well, I am in fully” he told the usher as he goes to get a seat for himself, for the people had started coming.
“God is here, we are going to have an encounter with Him tonight, prepare your hearts, minds, soul and Spirit as He visits each one of us in our seats” the man of God had started with the introductory part. Desperate Danny was overjoyed to have an encounter with God that night, he was uneasy with joy on his seat.
“As you go home, remember the program continues same time tomorrow and bring your friends along to have an encounter with the Lord, let us share the grace” “what is happening, we have closed just like that?” these were the questions Danny was asking himself as sharing of the grace was on going.
Young Man Danny walk out disappointed for not seeing God that night and also refused to even take that route home the next day!
MORAL LESSONS
Danny was known to be spiritual in all his dealings but inwardly in Danny’s life, he was not spiritual.
1. I think if seeing God was in the beauty of buildings, most people would have being dinning with Him daily!
2. I think if seeing God was on the appearance of a Temple, I am imagining how some churches will get congregants
3. People want an extraordinary experience to feel that they have had an encounter with God
4. Danny and some of us have forgotten that Jesus was born in a sheep fold; there God is!
5. God is with us anytime, anywhere, He eats with us, He sleeps with us, He walks with us, in all our doings He is with us for He said even when you pass through the waters, the rivers, the fires and many others, He is with us! Is 43:2.
6. Danny could have persistently attended the program till the end, it takes faith, commitment and perseverance to ‘see’ God
7. Finally, remember to listen to God speak to you some, not just you always.
